The Journey

The Journey

This grief journey is long.

It is hard.

And it is not even close to being over.

It is like climbing a sand dune.

You make one step, yet fall back halfway,

the end seems further away than when you started.

You never forget you’re grieving,

but those around you do.

How do you tell them you still need them

without sounding desperate?

Or do we need to sound desperate in order for someone to help?

It’s been several months

but I’m still sad,

and will be for a long time.

I need people to stay with me,

pray with me,

and let me know they’re in it for the long haul.

This grief journey is long.

It is hard.

And it’s not even close to being over.
