The Letter

My Dearest Fra,

Yes, I know, those aren't words I would normally use to address you.  We weren't very 'formal' as a family, but in this case, please make an exception.

Today is your 29th wedding anniversary. But you know that.  On this day, so many years ago you married your childhood sweetheart.

There have been many great loves throughout history and though yours was not one that would be immortalized in the pages of some massive tome, it is one that is immortalized in the hearts of all who knew you. Though you married young, there is no doubt in my heart that the two of you would still be together today.  You had the type of relationship coveted by many and achieved by few.

It is difficult to understand why the normal cycle of life is broken so often when there are many who pass way too young.  It is, in my opinion, the most profound mystery of this journey. I know you now have the answers and once our souls are reunited, we too will have them.  In the meantime you are most likely guiding us to keep an open heart no matter how desperately it wants to protect itself.

With your passing there is a void in our lives that can never be filled; nor would we want it to be.  If we learned anything from you it is that life here is not forever and that we should appreciate what we are experiencing because this journey, filled with happiness and pain, is part of the plan.

No matter how much time passes, know you are always tucked away in our hearts.

Thinking of you, today and always.

Love,

Roe
