the Divine Café

MC: Happy Morning Ems, I see you are all bundled up!

Ems:” Morning MC.  Brrr..it is sooo …cold”

MC: “Winter is here for sure. Interested in hearing about our Specials for today?”

Ems:” Always! Smells like heaven in here!”

MC:”Ah, you captured the aroma of ‘The CiderKlass’ a delicious hot red apple cider, simmered with cloves, cinnamon and a few drops of brandy. If you close your eyes and inhale the smell of the apples and the gingerbread deep, you might see old Saint Nicholas saving three young girls (Joy, Peace and Faith) from a virtue less life of prostitution by tossing golden coins through their windows at night to pay their dowries. The tradition of saving by sharing supposedly originates with this tale.

“The C+M+B”, tricolor ingredients: golden yoke, brown vanilla and nutmeg, all white sugar and milk, knelt together like the Three Kings ( the three wise men)… as the story goes. Respectively, there is Casper, being 60 years old, is first in o present his gift. He brings the gift of Gold, Next is Melchior. He is 40, middle-aged, and is giving frankincense - incense from his native Arabia, and finally the young 20 year old, Balthazar, offering myrrh from Saba (Yemen). The gifts and the ages are symbolic to the body, mind and spirit; Gold, as the king — symbolized mind (virtue); Myrrh, as to one who is mortal — body (suffering); and Incense, as to a God (prayer)… or as I prefer; Growth, Peace and Happiness!

… And the last, which is my favorite, ‘The White Oak Mistletoe’ generally known as a warm milk, vanilla and honey potion. Even though it is commonly associated with the ritual of bedtime as a sleeping remedy, drinking ‘The White Oak Mistletoe’ every morning is known to improve a person’s stamina. It reminds me of the white oak mistletoe ritual, an old Celtic ceremony, in which white-clad druids climbed a sacred white oak tree, cut down the mistletoe festooned on it, while making a sacred promise of sacrifice by the virtue of named restrain. They would then use its berries to prepare an elixir to cure infertility and the effects of poison.

Ems:” Wow, I feel like sampling all of the Specials offered today!”

MC: “I think you just stumbled onto your path of restraint!”

P.S.

December 21st is the date for the Human Tree gathering this month. As the druids, we too will wear all whites. The 12 days of Christmas traditional is believed to originate on the first day of the winter solstice, December 21 and symbolized the importance of life-death-rebirth or new beginnings. During this time you can choose one or more ‘sacrifices’, meaning undesirable or harmful behaviors, to restrain from for the 12 day period allowing room in your soul for a new beginning. Growth is a very special gift!

We will see you…
