Coping
Sometimes I need to sit and type
To find what’s on my mind
My life has changed so drastically
Since you left us all behind
I try each day, to live my life
The way you’d want me to
I wake up every morning
To do the things I do
It doesn’t make me special
That I make it through each day
The things that help to get me through
Are the things I do and say
We learn to seek out others
Who understand our grief
And learn that sometimes getting by
Requires a bit of belief
Sometimes just hearing other’s talk
About how they get by
Helps us to feel normal
We know they share our cry
We also learn that time alone
Won’t take the pain away
With time, we learn to cope with it
But we live it every day
Although I cannot see you
You will always be part of me
I know that you are watching us
And see things that I can’t see
Here on earth it was my job
To keep a watch on you
I never thought I’d see the day
YOU’d watch the things I do
I know you have protected me
During tough times I have had
It’s the only way I can explain
How good came from the bad
Run and jump, and have some fun
Someday, we’ll get to talk
And thank you son for looking down
And watching where I walk
