BE THERE

Be There

Now, when my friends realize what I do

They pull me aside and ask "What should I do?"

- Be There.

They're afraid their words will  cause anger or pain.

If you don't have the words, you can simply refrain

-and just Be There

They ask about waiting or rushing in.

What if they just start crying again?

How can I help my poor hurting friend?

- just Be There.

There with a shoulder, there with a smile

There to listen and nod for awhile.

There with a meal or an offer to drive,

There to make sure that the friendship survives.

Be There.

So how about you?  Do your friends ask advice?

Don't  shrug and tell them that flowers are nice.

tell them "Be There"

Show up and be willing, that's all you can do.

Show up and prove that your friendship is true.

Don't over think it  Don't be afraid.

You don't have to fix it there's no failing grade

so just BE THERE.
