Why Look at What Hurts Us? Surely That's Just Opening Old Wounds?

In the opening chapters of 'A Road Less Travelled' by M Scott Peck, the author talks about discipline and how it is this discipline which gives us not only structure in our lives, but also assists us in overcoming difficulties and problems. Discipline here is in the sense of being in control of ourselves and doing what needs to be done before doing what we want to do. If we do what we want to do first, then there is less incentive to do what needs to be done and if what needs to be done is difficult, then it will be easier to put off doing it. If we only do what we want and never do what needs to be done, then our life will devolve into chaos and unruliness. This article takes a look at how being disciplined can assist in healing from a broken heart following the loss of a child.
