Moment of Grace

The days don't pass

lightening fast,

There are moments

I wish they would,

Then I realize

if they do

they take me

further from you.

Hearts don't break

and then mend

they just break

over and over again.

A sound a noise a smell

brings it all back

For a moment

you are here again.

Then it is gone

and my heart knows

the breaking has only begun.

The path is dim

the stars don't shine

the moon refuses to rise,

Then I see you in a flash

shining from a little boys eyes.

His smile is yours

his laughter so gay

I hear it ring out

on this darkest of days.

I see you in him

I thank the grace

that brought you both

to this loving place.

As he grows

and becomes a man

He will always know

as I love you

I will love him.

I'll never forget

the little boy

who called me mom,

I see him now in another

who calls me grand mom.

About the Author

My son, Tim, passed on January 5th 2014 at the age of 34. He chose to end his life. So many things happened to bring him to that point. Believe it or not, I understand why. No matter how our child died, that is the keyword 'our child.' I wish you all gentle days and nights as you walk your path. Barbara, 'Forever Mom.'
