Mom Explains Why She Chose To Mourn The Loss Of Her Son On Facebook

In 2007, Sandra Homer's baby Jayce was stillborn.

She decided to post the pictures she had of him on Facebook for her family and friends to see. And even though she got some negative comments, she kept sharing. "It was the only way to share my son with the world," Homer told HuffPost Live's Nancy Redd on Monday.

After reaching out to members of her community, Homer realized that social media was not only a way for people to grieve, but to assure that their loved ones wouldn't be forgotten. "There's no way besides going to somebody's house to share who you loved that passed away," she said.

So Homer created Heavensbook, aFacebook group and website that catalogs a loved one who has passed and recognizes each "angel" on the day they passed as well as their birthday. Homer hopes that the site will ensure "not one angel will be forgotten for years to come".

About the Author
I am Sandra homer. I created HEAVENSBOOK group on Facebook. The group was created in memory of my son Jayce Homer. It's a unique group in which I have dedicated all of my personal time to remembering over 3000 angels birthdates and angelversaries of the 2400 current members. On February 3, I was a featured in the Huffington Post in a piece called Mourning on Facebook- "Mom Explains Why She Chose To Mourn The Loss Of Her Son On Facebook". Shortly after I was asked to be a lev guest on the Huffington Post Live News where I was a featured 30 minute spotlight. I would love to share the article, news interview and my story of creating HEAVENSBOOK. Thank you
