I was 25 when I lost my Mom at the age of 53 to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. She wasn't just my Mom, she was also my best friend. My parents were divorced and I am the youngest of four so she and I spent a lot of years where it was just the two of us in the house. She was my go to person, my biggest champion and my role model. She was the first person in my family I've lost so I had zero idea of what to expect while grieving. I find that telling others my experiences helps me heal.
