9 years 9 monthsI grew up in Jackson, MS the first half of my life and from 12 to 24 I grew up in Kilmichael, MS. I moved around a lot from 24 to 29, at 30 I moved to Clinton, MS where I now reside. I lived with my Granny Boots from 30 to 32 years old and now at 33 I still grieve for my Mom & Granny who died within months of each other Spring of 2014. I write children's books, so writing a poem to grieve through for my Mom was easy. I wrote "Her Rose Is White" based on something she told me about Mother's Day when children wear roses in honor of their mothers: white if their mother has passed and red if their mother is still living.
