The World Of Shadows

 

 

When you died I was lost in a parallel world of shadows

My heart felt like it had been pierced by poison arrows

I was paralysed as Grief was gripping me 

My world was so changed that I couldn't see

I could hardly breathe as the pain was so bad

I had no strength as I felt so sad

Why, I asked Death through tear stained eyes

I screamed at the shadows, but no one replied

Slowly my eyes refocused through my sorrows

I saw a speck of light glint through the shadows

Who are you, I asked the light

I'm Love the light said, I was always with you in this plight

Love took hold of Grief's hand 

Love said, let me explain so that you'll understand

Grief is born of me, Grief is a part of me

We walk hand in hand as we're related you see

Love took my hand and said now let's all walk together 

The path has been softened as it's been scattered with feathers

These are a gift that your loved one has sent to ease your pain

Until one day you're both reunited again

Love said as we walk you will see lots of doors

Each one contains a memory of yours

We can enter each room and stay as long as you need to

Look at the visions and talk about them as this will help you

As I entered each room, I felt someone else was there

Both Love and Grief said it's your loved one as their spirit is everywhere

As I left each room a new world started to unfold

I saw a locked door in the distance and the world didn't feel as cold

I looked again, then asked what's behind the locked door

Grief and Love said that door is your future if you want to explore

It's up to you if you wish to open it as you hold the key

I said I'm only going through the door if my loved one's spirit comes with me

Love said don't you see they're always with you as you're connected for all eternity

Now in this world of shadows what will be will be

But when I open the final door is up to me
