Words for the Journey

Discover a sanctuary of perspectives, tools, and shared experiences written for people living with grief.

Grief is one of the most difficult things to experience in your life. When my brother died, my life began to spiral, it was as if I was a yo-yo and the string had fallen suddenly, it happened in slow motion and as hard as I tried to get back to the top, the more I fell down. I tried and tried to climb but I just fell every time until I was just spinning at the end. Slowly spinning for the longest time. I had to let that happen. I couldn't climb back up until I had experienced all the scary emotions at the bottom. Once I had, I slowly began to wind back up - very slowly but surely.
