Words for the Journey

Discover a sanctuary of perspectives, tools, and shared experiences written for people living with grief.

This is a poem of loss and heartbreak.

                                               Now That She's Back

Dare I believe what I saw today?

Was it a dream that cannot go away?

Where did she go, why did she leave?

Was I to blame, what to believe?

Now that She’s back I can stop running

Now that She’s back I can start living

Now that She’s back I can start breathing

Now that She’s back I can stop looking

What do I do now, now that she’s back?

How can I face her, with this courage I lack?

When will I see her, after my heart went blind?

Why has she done this, after leaving me behind?

Now that She’s back I can stop drowning

Now that She’s back I can stop crying

Now that She’s back I can stop bleeding

Now that She’s back I can stop dying

How do I tell her, now she's appeared?

How do I tell her, why I look so feared?

How do I tell her, the reason I'm alone?

How do I tell her, that her name is carved in stone?
