I miss your laugh, and I miss your smile

Someone to talk with for a while.

I miss the things you used to say

And someone with whom to share my day.

Someone who cared for my joys and my sorrows

Who helped me to face uncertain tomorrows.

The person who halved my hurt and my pain

Who doubled my joys again and again.

I miss sharing with you the the first day of fall

The air is so cool and a hummingbird calls.

When we did this together just one year ago

We were so happy, had no way to know

That this year I’d sit here so much alone

No more laughter or smiles now you are gone.

And so my love on this first cool morning

Memories of you came without warning

Bringing some tears but in a short while

Remembering us laughing just brought me a smile.
