I lost my mom December 18, 2013.  I always thought I understood grief but to lose a parent is impossible to understand until it happens.  In life I am a very positive person but it now feels like a veil surrounds me that I cannot lift.   To be so close to tears and at a loss for energy is a battle that is hard to win.

Needless to say, that day changed our lives and our outlook on life forever.

I remember New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1994. Nina loved any opportunity for a celebration. She invited a couple of her high school friends over, planned games, tried some new recipes, and bought her customary bottle of sparkling apple cider to drink out of plastic champagne glasses. Nina rivaled Martha Stewart when it came to her enthusiasm for entertaining!
